English-Speaking Psychologist in San Luis Potosí
Understanding what's happening to you can change the way you live it.
I'm Fernanda Evia, a psychologist and systemic psychotherapist. In therapy we work to understand not just what you're feeling, but the patterns, relationships and experiences that may be behind it. Sessions are available in English.
Some things work fine on the outside and still weigh on you inside.
You handle everything, but your mind never seems to switch off.
The same argument keeps coming back in your relationship.
Lately everything takes more effort than it should.
Something changed and you know you need to process it, even if you don't know where to start.
You know something isn't right, even if it's still hard to put a name to it.
You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis or a perfect explanation of what you're feeling. We can start by understanding what's going on.
How I can help
Every process is different. These are some of the situations I most often work with in practice.
Anxiety
Understand what triggers your anxiety, what keeps it going, and learn new ways to respond when it shows up.
02Couples therapy
Understand the patterns that keep repeating between you and build a different way of relating.
03Depression
A space to understand what you're going through and start to recover movement, meaning and connection.
04Burnout
When performing, keeping up and just getting through the day starts taking up practically all your energy.
05Therapy for expats
Support for the specific weight of building a life somewhere you didn't grow up, in English, with someone who knows San Luis Potosí.
Therapy doesn't start with answers. It starts with understanding.
I work from a systemic approach: we don't look at what's happening to you as something isolated, but within your history, your relationships and the context in which you learned to respond a certain way.
We get to know each other
You tell me what brings you to therapy, what you're going through and what you'd like to be different.
We understand the pattern
We explore what's happening, where it shows up, and which experiences or relationships may be keeping it going.
We build something different
We work on new ways to understand, respond to and relate to what's been hard for you.
I'm Fernanda.
I'm a psychologist and systemic psychotherapist. My way of working starts from a simple idea: what we feel and do has a history, and it usually makes sense once we understand the context it came from.
That's why in therapy we don't just aim for a symptom to go away. We also work to understand what surrounds it, what patterns keep repeating, and what can start to change.
I don't work with isolated symptoms. I work with you, your history, and the relationships that help explain them.

High-functioning anxiety: when no one notices you're stretched thin
You handle everything, you deliver on time, and no one suspects a thing. But inside, you can't stop.
How to know if you need therapy
You don't have to wait for a crisis to ask for help. There are signs worth listening to first.
When does a couple's argument become a pattern?
The same fight, different words, again. The topic of the argument isn't always the real problem.
Frequently asked questions
Do you see clients in person, online, or both?
Both. I can see you in person at my office in San Luis Potosí or, if it works better for you, we can work together online — including sessions in English.
What ages do you work with?
I work with teenagers, adults and older adults. Each process is adapted to that stage of life and to the person's specific needs.
How do I know if I need therapy?
You don't have to wait for a crisis to ask for psychological support. If something is taking more out of you than usual and you want to understand it better, that can be a good time to start.
What is your approach as a psychologist?
I work from a systemic approach: instead of looking at the symptom in isolation, I try to understand each person within their context, their relationships, and the experiences that have shaped how they think, feel and connect with others.
Is what I talk about in therapy confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a basic principle of my work, with the applicable exceptions in situations such as a serious risk to someone's safety.
How can I verify your professional license?
My professional license (cédula profesional) is 15022266, and you can verify it directly in the National Registry of Professionals of the Secretaría de Educación Pública.
What should I do if I'm in crisis or facing an emergency?
This site and my practice are not an emergency service. If you or someone else is at risk, seek emergency care immediately.
You don't need to have it all figured out to start.
You can write me a short message about what's bringing you to therapy. We'll check availability and answer any questions before booking.
